Large data farms are using this as an alternative form of revenue to expand their operations.
The goal is to get people mining Bitcoin at home for a more robust and secure network. Renting hashrate is like keeping your Bitcoin on an exchange.

@danfaggella Brains are still crazy energy-efficient. LLMs can keep improving, but a perfect model is not the same as human replacement. That only happens when compute and energy economics cross the line.
